has anyone taken Chemistry I from Colorado Community College?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

It's from ccconline.org CHE 111.

I'm worried since I wasn't good at high school chemistry.

Also, everyone tells me online chemistry is harder and colleges don't like it (I'm at the University of Florida---very picky college).

Who was your professor? How hard was the class and did having it online make it harder? How was the home lab?

general experiences?

Thanks so much!!:redbeathe

I took Chem 101 & 102 through ccconline. Are you sure you need 111? 101 is what the schools require around here (in CO). I'd check into it, you don't want to take the wrong class and no need taking a harder one if you don't need to.

As for being online, schools around here have no problem with classes being taken online. One nursing info session I went to said that they have found studies that show you learn the same amount in class or online. I don't know what studies they cited, but if they were willing to accept them that's good enough for me! And, your transcripts will not show the class as being online. It shows it as if you took it through your parent college. I'm sure an astute person could put it together if you live in Florida and taking a class in Colorado, but it says nothing about being online on your official transcript.

My chem teacher was fine. He didn't really do anything but facilitate discussions in 101. If we had a question, we would post it to the discussion board and we would help each other out. I had the same teacher for 102 as well and he was much more involved in that one (Organic & Biochem).

The labs were relatively easy and the nice thing about those was you did not need to do up a formal lab report. You just had to answer the questions in the lab and answer in a single sentence or two what you learned in the lab. If there were no questions, you were to give a paragraph answer. I finished the class with over 100%; because the teacher gave me some extra credit for posting some 'how to's' in the discussion forum.

The class work itself wasn't too difficult, as you can see by my grade, and my 16yo daughter is taking the same class online with the same teacher this semester. She doesn't seem to be having any problems and she hasn't had chemistry before.

Good luck, I hope that gave you some useful info.

I would take CHE 102 but they don't offer that this spring session II and I have to get chemistry done by this semester :(

Thank you so much for the detailed review. I feel like I have a general idea of how it'll be like. I'm assuming the lectures are all videos online?
