Gwinnett Tech's Poor Chemistry ReputationTrue/False?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi everybody!

Trying to add chem 1 and 2 to my transcript so I can open up more options for nursing programs to apply to. I've heard poor things from students about the chemistry there being too risky, and was told I would be better off taking them at another school. Is there any truth to this or is it just the hype of students not putting their best foot forward into the class? I heard the hype about anatomy and physiology and how at that campus, they have a 50% drop rate bc ppl underestimate the difficulty of it. It when I took it, I found it rather easy, but I put a lot of my team into learning it well and rather enjoyed it. I ended up making A's in all of my prereqs, so I just want to make sure I'm not going into this without doing some research. If it is true, where did you take your chem courses? Was it really good?

Thanks everyone for your advice.

@ NeoNatMom:

You ripped through your prerequisites with ease. The team approached worked well. Just one thing. Try to stay away from any school with

'technical or "career" in its name. You might try going to (collegescorecard.ed.gov) and looking around.

They have an excellent overall science department which I can say with confidence. But chemistry seems to just have a really scary reputation there. No matter what, rating a course or teacher is so subjective and who knows how much effort the students telling me this actually did.

I will definitely look at that page. Thank you!
