GCU Spring 2015 Hopefuls

U.S.A. Arizona

HEY!

Is there any Tucson applicants for Spring semester? I already took my HESI applied for the fall and was placed on the waiting list. So here I am once again giving it another shot. Hopefully, this time around I make it...

Congratulations on your HESI score your rock!!:) I have really bad test anxiety and tend to forget all I know when taking exams!! Lol:down: Thanks for all your great feedback. I have both books so I’ll continue studying from both. Just like I told adjj0307 I’m sure you guys will make it in this time around!! And trust everything happens for a reason.

Mari_315,

I would not stress out over the A&P section. I only had one day to study for the HESI, and while I had taken it previously for another school I was applying to, I did not have to take the A&P section then. I also had not taken A&P in 1.5 - 2 years and had forgotten a lot of it. I literally focused on the A&P in the Evolve book and the McGraw-Hill book the day before ( I really liked the McGraw-Hill book, more so than the Evolve book).

I ended up getting a 92 cumulative score and an 84 on the A&P section. Do I wish I had gotten higher than an 84, yup, but given that I crammed for it and it really is all over the place, I was very happy with my score. As adjj0307 said, GPA really is the most important factor, and you have a great GPA! adjj0307 gave great advice when it comes to studying, have a general understanding of how the body systems work. Reason out the answers and you will do good.

Remember to breathe, study smart, and you will rock the HESI!

BTW how was the vocabulary part of the exam!! I hear the words are very hard!

Actually there is a calculator in the test it self and its not a hard test at all, just know how to convert from the metric system and vice versa it is not that bad..I know everybody says different, I think each campus is a bit different... Thanks I hope I make it too....we just have to wait now!! :shy:

I know you will do great on the HESI and get in for the SHC campus! As you said everything happens for a reason!

I personally thought the vocab was easy, but English has always been my strongest subject. There were a few words that I did not know or forgot, but was able to answer correctly by means of elimination. Definitely study the vocab from both books...looking back, there were quite a lot of words on my test from both.

Yes!! Waiting sucks!!!!!:wacky: When do you think we’ll know?? I’m guessing early October. . . Good luck to all of us:yes:

Hello All,

I was wounding if you guys can guide me on how to set up a student portal for GCU??

Hi everyone! :) Any other Banner Boswell hopefuls out there? I've already taken my Hesi... Let the waiting begin! I recently spoke with my advisor and she said that we would find out sometime in mid October.

Good luck to everyone...I hope we all get in. I love this program because it only 16 months compare to ASU and U of A. As Mari_315 said the GPA is weighed first then other factors like HESI, Work experience and so on will come in...I will keep you posted when I take my HESI.

Hi everyone! I will be taking my HESI test tomorrow and I am very excited and nervous :nailbiting:. I hope to get into SHC in the spring. I will keep everyone posted on my experience with HESI.

Good luck lori0918!! I’m sure you’ll do well. I’m also hoping to get into SCH this spring. . . I plan an take the HESI mid-month. I really need to study the grammar section . . . English is my second language.:nailbiting: Keep us posted!!

Hello Lori0918. . . how did your exam go?

Hi Mari_315,

The HESI exam was so and so. I got an overall 83%. I was bummed out because I obviously wanted a higher score. My worst subject was A&P. Some advise would be study fractions, ratios, and conversions for the math section. Grammar was my 2nd worst subject I scored a 78%. I would study that section if it's not your best subject.

Hopefully my associates as a medical assistant helps me with acceptance. I'm so nervous and anxious to just find out! The next step that I need to complete is the background check. Do you or anyone know how long the process takes for the background check?

Good luck everyone!
