College Major?

I'm in highschool, and I want to go to a four year college to get my prerequisites. Does the college I got to after highschool have to have a pre-nursing major? Alot of them have pre-med majors, Is that good enough? Do I even have to declare a major if I'm just going to get prerequisites done?

So really I just want to know if I can go to whatever college I want straight out of highschool.

If you just want to get your prerequisites done (for whatever reason), it'd make the most sense to go to a community college. If you actually want to go to school for nursing you can apply to a four year college and go for pre nursing which would include all the prerequisites you need.

It depend on the school. The school i go to, you just chose "Nursing (BSN)" on the application, but one of the other schools i applied to made us select "Undeclared with an interest in nursing." The best thing to do would be to call the nursing department of the schools you're applying to and let them know that you're a high school student applying to pre-nursing programs and ask them what to select as a major.

Nursing is very different from medicine/pre-med. for medicine you need four years undergrad (pre-med) and then 3-4 years of med school. For nursing, it' only four years TOTAL. Generally it's two years of prereqs and then two years in a nursing program. Pre nursing isn't a major, its more of a roadmap for your first two years as a nursing major, then the nursing program (once you're accepted) is the roadmap for the last two years of the nursing major. So, unlike a med student, you don't do four years of pre-nursing and then go to nursing school. So no, do not select pre med unless you intend on going to med school.

Well technically you could go to a school that has a nursing program in it so that once you're done you can apply to the school's nursing program. If you have financial issues then maybe you can attend cc first for prereqs and then apply to many schools whether BSN or adn programs. Just keep in mind that BSN programs are competitive and possibly harder to get into compared to adn programs depending on your area. so, do whatever you think fits your situation.

Just complete prereqs that nursing programs need and also make sure to complete the right GE courses that the school requires for admission too.
