Are ADN Programs Easier To Get Into Than BSN Programs

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I am currently in the process of completing my pre-nursing pre reqs, but I need to choose a school since different schools require different pre-reqs. I currently reside in NYC, but I have relatives in Jacksonville, FL so I can go to school at either state. My current GPA is 2.8 with a 3.0 in my 2 completed science courses. I have a previous A.S degree in Business Admin with a 2.67 GPA...so my cumulative GPA is not going to be that great. I noticed most BSN programs want you to have a 3.0 cumulative, but on the other hand in NYC ADN programs are very competitive. I have also been looking through different school curriculums and after you have all the pre reqs a BSN is only 1 semester more than an ADN. It would just make more sense to go for your BSN, but it looks like its easier to get into an ADN program sooo I was thinking if I could get my ADN degree there and become a RN I could get a job in NYC and work on my MSN there while working? Sounds like a good idea?

in california, it seems BSN programs are easier to get into because of less applicants. more people apply to ADN programs because they are less expensive and have less prereqs

Hey,

If I could get right into a BSN program for sure I would move anywhere in the US. My cumulative GPA is considered horrible for this field. I hear people complaining that their 3.3 GPA i really low. Anyways my goal is to find a program by the end of the month to apply to since a lot of nursing programs you have to apply 6 months in advanced.

well don't give up! i had to apply in NOVEMBER 08 to start in September 09. such a joke! good luck to you!
