Anatomy & Physiology Hybrid Courses

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi there,

I am in the process of completing prerequisite coursework to apply to combined BSN/MSN programs this coming application cycle. This past Spring I took A&P I (in-person) and am looking to take A&P II this summer so that I may have as many prereqs completed at the time of my application. The institute in which I am taking the course is only offering the second part of the sequence as a hybrid course--the lecture component is online and all of the labs are in-person. A number of the schools I am looking to apply to (UPenn, Rush University, Vanderbilt, etc) strongly discourage taking core science courses online stating. It is my understanding that the big no no is having no labs/online labs. For those who have been through the application process, have you encountered the same? I'd hate to take this course and find out that my credits will not transfer. Have any of you taken A&P as a hybrid course/partially or fully online? Did you have any difficultly transferring that credit?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Best regards to you all.

You ought to call the schools and talk to the nursing departments. I know that here, that would not be acceptable, but schools vary. From what I've seen on here, most schools won't accept online A&P, but a few will.

Good day, InquisitiveMind263:

Most transcripts don't list if the class is online or not. Also, since the lab is in person / on campus, that should make a difference if it did matter. Though RunBayRun hit the nail on the head in terms of being sure by calling and talking with the nursing schools you are interested in attending.

Thank you.

Hi there,

Thank you both for your very quick response. I've been calling all of the schools that I am interested in applying to in efforts of receiving some clarification. Based on the responses I've been getting, it looks like since I took the first semester in person (with an A grade) and since the lab component of A&P II is online, the hybrid course will be accepted.

I'd still welcome receiving information from others!
