Advice Needed!

Hello! I am applying for ABSN Programs for 2017. Assuming I get into a program, I will start in May/June/August/September 2017 (depending on which one I go to).

I'll be leaving my job in August 2016 and moving back home with my mom. I'm going to spend the fall taking my four remaining prerequisites, taking the TEAS, and applying for programs. A lot of my energy will be focused on those three things, but I want to work part time assuming I am able to. What should I do, that would look appealing on my applications? I am not a CNA, and don't think I can take the training AND pay for preqrequisites, so that is ruled out. Any other jobs that you can think of that would give me a little bit of experience and look good? I would be working part time from September to December and then full time from December to May/June/August/September.

Do you think maybe it's worth it to put the cost of CNA training on a credit card and do that, since it's a good amount of time that I'll be working full time, and I could probably pay it off?

I have a Bachelors Degree in Marketing and I've been working for a religious non-profit as an admin. I don't know if this matters, but I'm very interested in mental health and I volunteer as a court appointed special advocate for a teen in foster care.

I'm soooo excited to go to nursing school and to become a nurse.

If you're still in the process of taking pre-requisites, I'd recommend that you focus on doing as well as you can in those courses because GPA is extremely important for admission to accelerated programs. Unless the program(s) require it, previous healthcare experience is not going to add very much value. Entry-level jobs are not all that relevant to nursing practice.

Make sure you have some Plan B options in the wings if you are unable to achieve admission within your planned timeline.
