ADN prereqs

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi all,

Does anyone know if a college will shorten the time of an ADN for a person with a BA and and MA with applicable coursework? I'm considering a ABSN and applying to a couple of universities, and an associates degree is my backup plan if I am not accepted. I was relieved that the ABSN is only about 15 months, and if I do not have to add on another 18 months for the associates that would be helpful :).

Thanks!

I don't know about shorten, but the number of classes you will have to take will decrease. I'm looking into a BSN and and an associates program.

As far as I know, there are no shortened or accelerated ADN programs. If you contact advisors from schools in your area they should have a better idea of what's available where you live.

where are you from? In Maryland there is an accelerated associate program and its 14 months long. All science pre reqs must be completed and the program starts in the summer and ends the following summer.

Specializes in mental health / psychiatic nursing.

If you have credits that will transfer for general ed requirements and pre-reqs for the ADN program that will shorten the time spent trying to get into the program, but you still have to take all of the nursing specific coursework.
