Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

So I am a first time college student starting this fall 2017 and I've decided I wanted to take the medical route and major in nursing.however, I am undecided whether I want to get my associates degree or transfer and get a bachelor's.im really excited and nervous at the same time.keep in mind I have a little one who is about to be 1 in August .I would really appreciate some opinions.Pros, cons?please ,I need help ! Lol

It depends on a few factors - can you afford to go for a BSN or would you need to take out a loan?

What's the job market like for new grads in your area - are the hospitals more inclined to hire RNs or BSNs?

Many employers will want you to get your bachelor's eventually; try and weigh the time/cost of going straight for bachelors, vs. associates, then bachelors after.

After you've put feelers out and got some numbers back, I feel like you will have an easier time making the decision. You can always keep costs down if you want to go for a bachelors by getting all your gen-ed classes done at your local CC for a fraction of the cost of chugging through them all at a 4yr. Don't be scared to shop around and speak to advising staff in a few colleges/universities near you that you'd want to enroll in.

Thankyou so much for replying, I was planning on doing all my general eds at a local cc and then transferring to a university, but I will def do a little homework and see what is the best route.!
