How long did it take ?

Hey allnurses ! I am currently a pre-nursing student who spends alot of time on this website. I was curious on how long it took everyone to become a registered nurse and what was your biggest motivation out of it all ?

Drop public speaking with a "w"?

Hey all nurses! Im in desperate need of some advice. I am currently taking 4 classes in college right now,(Intro to psyc, public speaking, algebra, aerobics) I'm doing fine in most except public speaking. Im afraid I won't be able to get a B or A in it because of one speech I didn't do. I am debating if I should drop public speaking with a "w" or if I should continue and try my best to at least get a "b". I'm not sure how much it will affect my grade, it is the 3rd speech out of 5. I work 3 12 hour shifts at a place that has nothing to do with healthcare so they aren't very flexible with my schedule. I also have a daughter who is one and my boyfriend(her dad) who helps whenever he isn't working himself.I really don't want to slim my chances of getting into a bsn program. Any advice will be appreciated! Thank you.

Will this kind of volunteering help?

Thanks you very much! I just emailed whoever was in charge of the program. The closest one I found was in Riverside which isn't even far from me. It seems very convenient. Especially the summer intense one however I think I'll have to save up a little for that one.

Will this kind of volunteering help?

Thanks for the reply! And I've never heard of that program . I'll look to see if they have it in my area. I wanted to get my cna license this semester of school but my schedule is crazy right now so I think I'll just have to push it to next semester.

  11. Hey allnurses! I am currently a nursing major at a community college in Southern California. I've heard that it is very hard to get accepted into the nursing programs around here. Anywho, I know some nursing programs like to see that you devoted some time into volunteering so I picked up an application at my local hospital. The hospital told me that alot of the volunteering will involve clerical work and maybe some time on the floors like the ER. My question is, if I decided to volunteer and was only told to do clerical work, will a nursing program look at this as volunteering even though I wasn't able to volunteer on an actual floor?Sorry in advance if my question is silly.

    CNA as a 2nd job ?

Hello I'm just going to throw this question out there out of curiosity but do any of you have another job while being a CNA? If so, how do you manage to juggle both ? Would you say it is manageable? How has it affected you mentally/physically ? I don't expect anybody to answer all the questions, just curious. Thank you to anybody who comments !
  15. Hi I was just wondering if there were any schools in socal(preferably inland empire) that are known for their bsn nursing programs. I would love to hear about your experiences there and why you would recommend it or why you wouldn't.
