ADN and BSN...

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

After finishing class and waiting for lab to start listening to conversations in the hallway.

One student was talking about going for their BSN after completion of prerequisites at the CC. Said it would take only 5 semesters. Where an associates would take 4. How they feel it would save the money in the long run going for their BSN.

Curious on the path you are going?

I am gong the ADN route for now just due to cost. It'll cost me close to $10K to complete if accepted. Compared to a BSN costing $25K to $30K. If not accepted in the ADN will look into a BSN.

Curious on what factors led you to choose a ADN over a BSN or vice-versa?

The market here was my main decision making factor - hospitals here want BSN prepared nurses. The cost for a local program is $20k, so I figured it was worth it. The BSN program here takes 24 months and the ADN + BSN bridge would take longer (almost three).
