Accelerated MSN Programs

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I would like to apply to a Direct Entry MSN program to become an NP, but because these types of programs seem to be really competitive I'm considering doing a separate accelerated BSN program followed by an accelerated MSN. My gpa is not that strong and I feel that if I do really well in the BSN program, it will be much much easier to get into an MSN with a high BSN gpa. Does anyone know of good accelerated MSN programs that are less than two years, preferably 1-1.5 years? I would prefer to do the program in person, but will consider the online ones.

I am not sure where you reside, but so far I have heard (attended an open house) about accelerated MDE (Masters Direct Entry), 15 months at Columbia University - Nursing. The MDE, even though it is a Master's, only grants RN with no specialization. However, the university also offers MDE/DNP hybrid that I believe last for 3-4 years: the first phase is MDE of 15 months upon successful completion of which you become eligible to sit in for NCLEX and subsequently get licensed. Once you are licensed you get to continue on in the program beginning the DNP phase at which point you can choose your specialty while, if you get an RN job, can work part-time as an RN. But like I said, the DNP portion lasts at least two more years or even more (it has been awhile since I attended the info session). Since it is the only school I know of that offers master's level direct entry programs, I cannot assume same applies to other similar schools around the US.

I believe programs can be completed in one year (3 semesters).

This is their post-BSN option.

Doing a Direct CNL program maybe an option. There is one on the east coast (Maryland or VA) this appox 16 months.

I too am researching this as of April 2018 and I found a 15 month direct entry MSN program from Arizona University. Other than that, I can't find accelerated direct entry MSN programs.
