Which NP program did you/are you going to choose?

Just curious to pick people's brains on which NP programs y'all are choosing and why?

Factors involved in choosing:

- Online vs on site

- Cost analysis

- Academic route (specialty choice)

Any commentary, opinions, ideas, etc., are all greatly appreciated.

I am currently researching which grad school to go for but undecided due to these factors listed and more!

most online schools require that you go to the school to "show" them that you are proficiently learning the required subject (physical assessment, women's health, geriatrics, etc.). South sends a representative to your clinical site while you are there for observation. They do it twice during a rotation. With the cost of school, paying for airfare and a hotel room just adds to your fees. Do this several times and you add quite a bit to the cost of school. This way, I don't have to go to Savannah . One of my rotations has already had this experience and they told me it was not an inconvenience to them or the student.

I've decided to apply to University of Cincinnatti's FNP program, 35K for the entire program, 2 yrs full time, all online, 3.0 GPA to get in, no campus visits. You do have to find your own clinical sites though.

I will be applying to ODU for their FNP program. This is a hybrid program as well. And for me, cost and reputation weighed very heavily on my decision. I will be applying for their Fall 2014 program.

For those that applied to South or are currently attending South..i talked to an admissions rep and I will say i'm impressed, however, all online reviews are that the school is horrible especially financial aide...any thoughts?

I have had no problem with the financial department of SU. Neither has anyone else that have gone there that I know personally.

I chose Gonzaga University for my Family Nurse Practitioner MSN. I happen to live, quite literally, on the other side of the country (they are in Washington state and I'm in Virginia), so that's really the only negative.

The program is ~ $38,000. It's online with eight campus visits during the two year program. I chose this program because I wanted to be able to have a flexible school schedule but still attend a brick and mortar university. Also, they didn't require a BSN. I have a BS in Biochem and a ADN in nursing. I will have to set up my own clinicals, but I like that we will have eight intensives to go over skills and such. The program is highly ranked among online MSN programs, and they have a DNP option if I want to continue after my MSN program is over.

I've also applied to the Fall 2014 cohort. My application is complete and ready for review and I've been told we won't hear anything until March or so. Have you heard anything yet? I wonder if the application pool will be larger or smaller since it is only open to full time students.
