Prepare Yourself for Nurse Anesthesia Education

Nursing Students SRNA

Just thought I would share something I ran across today while surfing around on the Barry University website. Not sure if this is NEW or if it has been available for some time, but I think it is an excellent opportunity for those interested.

Online CRNA Prep Course

"Whether you are preparing to apply or enter a Nurse Anesthesia program, or are just interested in determining whether such a career choice is for you, the Master of Science Program in Anesthesiology at Barry University is proud to announce the availability of an online, self-paced, 2 credit hour course that is designed to specifically to meet these needs. This course introduces and reviews topics critical to success in a Nurse Anesthesia program."

Thanks for the link! I think that's great and would love to take...however, don't think I'm going to shell out another $1332 to do it! :)

The price is steep but maybe worth the investment for those that are looking to apply to Barry...would look good on the application I think.

What are the requirements to enrol???

I couldn't find them on the website.....

My anxiety about starting school is extremely high, and I think the extra confidence boost might be worth it. Maybe I will.

Thank you so much for sharing this. It will definetly be something I take. Being prepared has always been asset to me.:wink2: Thanks, Kris

Not trying to be a pessimist but as a current student, I think it is a waste of money, but not time, to enroll in this course unless you are applying to Barry University. It would surely impress the staff there if you shelled out the cash and successfully completed their course. As a matter of fact, they probably don't accept many people who haven't taken it because it shows drive and determination. It is definitely worth the time to review some of these things, however, I think that with the ease of availability of information today, it is not necessary to pay that kind of cash to bone up on basic math(which you can get for free from the GRE website), basic chem and phys, learn about the history of anesthesia(which you can find in any encyclopedia), and learn about basic pharmacology and monitoring which you should already know from your job and if you don't you have no business applying in the first place. don't get me wrong.......it probably is a useful course but you can get this info for free ANYWHERE. If you are applying to Barry.......take it.

Thanks for the advise but from someone with a marginal GRE, I am looking at anything that will sell me (short of taking the GRE again of course). It is a thought though. Could spend this money and take a Kaplan review!! I personally don't know where I will be going but Barry is not out of the equation. Thanks again.

I agree with sandman. We've been hearing for the last few months that the summer before we start we need to relax, chill with family/friends, go on vacations and enjoy the free time that we won't have in august. Plus, we are going to be broke for the next 2 -3 years anyway. Why pay $1330 for information that you can get for free?

RNMOM...as far as the GRE, I improved my score 400 points by just using the KAPLAN 2005 book and cd. Best $30 I've ever spent.

THANKS for the advice, I truly appreciate the word about the possibility of improving GRE scores by that amount. GREAT job. I am not in a program yet. Am really looking at Samuel Merritt as I am relocating to Northern CA this month. We'll see. Thanks again.

Check out this website:

http://www.number2.com They have free GRE prep and it is pretty decent. Haven't taken the GRE yet, but I am pretty nervous.

Thanks,

Despite my swearing to myself I would never take it again, I do believe I will and this looks like a good site.
