I will be interviewing next Tues. pretty nervous...I keep hearing how laid back it is and am just wondering how long it will last?? I received an email from the school saying that the interview lasts ~ 2hrs.? I have heard amazing things about this program and am so excited if I am chosen to be a part of it :)

Sean, do you know what students with families do for health insurance? I am the carrier for our family and did not see anything related to this on the MSA site. We have a family financial plan in order sans health ins.?? just curious

Thanks

Your interview wont last 2 hours. Those are the time blocks they have in reserved for the interviews. My first one lasted 45 min and my second one only lasted around 20 min. A few classmates of mine only has 10-15 min interviews. It just depends on how many questions you have for them at the end, and I suggest you have at least a few that can stem some conversation and not just a simple yes/no.

The health insurance offered through the school is available through Blue Cross/Blue Sheild, but it's not great. A higher premium will yield to a lower monthly payment, but it's still quite expensive. MN care is another option for full time grad students I believe. The school will give you insurance options/plans on the first day of class. I have a family as well, but my wife picked us up on her health care plan.

I know you mentioned the interview is very laid back. Is it mostly just basic interview questions? Do they ask a lot of scenario tYpe questions? I get so nervous interviewing so any suggestions for what to prepare for would be helpful!

My first interview was with the program director and she told me a little bit about the program then she said, "tell me about you." that was it! I wen on to talk about how I got to this point, why I wanted to do anesthesia, and why my family was ready for the challenge. Then I asked her questions for about 20min. My second interview was with an associate director who asked me "why CRNA school, why MSA, what do u like about your job, what makes you frustrated about your job," then I asked her questions that I didn't get answered in the first interview. I was scarred, big time going into the interview, but my nerves switched to excitement when I could talk about my experiences in the OR and why I want to be a CRNA. They will sense your apprehension, and fears, likewise they will know the ones who are excited about the opportunity as well. Seriously, they make it as easy as possible for you. Try not to get so nervous, I know it's easier said than done.

Hi Everyone,

Good luck to those who have interviews, I'm interviewing as well on December 14th. Does anyone know if the school has a waiting list and how many people from the wait list started the program this Fall?

I believe that the wait list is for that year only, ie.. if you are placed on the list this year 2011 when the class starts in 2012 if someone drops or choosen another school then you could take that spot.? I am assuming. Good luck with your interview! I will post when I am done with mine on the 7th.

For those who have interviewed do you have any feedback? Hope it went well for you all!

I had my interview on the 7th and it was pretty casual, as stated earlier. It was a "get to know you" conversation. I met with the director first for about 45 min. and she really wanted to know why I chose anes. and how I got to this point. I also met with a prof. for the program he was very nice also, we discuss what students are challenged most with in the program and how to prepare for the courses. All in all I think it went quite well and I feel cautiously confident if thats a feeling?? :) thats about all I got. Best of luck to you who are waiting to interview and I hope (pray) to see some of you next fall.

Wedoch, thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. Did they ask any clinical and/or math questions? I know this is common for some programs.

No math or gtt type ques. However she did ask about my current work environment. Hope that helps. When is your interview?
