Excelsior ADN-BSN and CRNA

Nursing Students SRNA

Published

Specializes in Emergency.

I am about 1-2 years out, but I am preparing myself for CRNA school. Prior to nursing I work at a high volume, high quality fire rescue service as a Paramedic for 10 1/2 years. I did my ASN with Excelsior online and had great grades. I might also do my BSN with Excelsior. I tried the traditional route but couldn't with family and work. I currently work in the ED at a level 1 trauma center. I will be transfering to either CCU,MICU very soon.

For those with insight:

Will going though Excelsior's ADN hurt my chances that much?

Considering that many RN-BSN programs are also mostly online, will also getting it through Excelsior make a difference?

What Critical Care area typicaly is looked upon more favorably?

Any advice to which classes to take after BSN and before application to help prepare and make your application stand out better. Anything to give myself the an edge.

Thanks!

In the state of CA does not except and GA is thinking about not to except EC graduates to practice in GA.

I think it a great college.

I don't know about Excelsior, but I can answer the ICU part.

Go to CVICU. You need to manipulate sick, intubated patients on pressors and vents.

I'm an Excelsior grad, 11 months from finishing a CRNA program.

ADN and BSN are from there.

Take your A&P/Patho/Micro in a live setting. Just do it. At least 2 semesters of chemistry, too. You will thank me.

If you don't mind sharing, can you tell me what schools did you apply for and get accepted to for CRNA school? I am thinking of going this route (excelsior), to obtain my ASN & BSN. I currently reside in New Orleans and the only schools in Louisiana are LSU and Our Lady of the Lake, which I'll be contacting tomorrow to see if they accept excelsior. Thanks!
