USF CA MSN-CNL Non-nurse Summer 2011

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hi There,

I've been searching around and I haven't seen a thread yet for USF's CNL program for non-nurse Summer 2011, so I thought I'd start one.

Anyone out there applied yet or still applying? I just submitted my online application last night and am preparing the supplemental packet to send out tomorrow.

Anything you'd like to share, by all means, please do!

Thanks,

KTZ

Congrats to everyone who has been accepted! For those of us who have not gotten a phone call, has anybody been rejected yet?

Hi fingerscrossed12,

I have not been accepted or rejected... waiting as patiently as I can for a letter/phone call!

Good luck to everyone! Aaahhhh, limbo is so stressful.

Just got today's mail.....nothing again! This is driving me nuts!

I emailed USF yesterday and they said letters were being sent by the end of this week, so depending on where you are you may not get a letter until next week

Ya, the same here, I wonder if they call everyone who is accepted. I checked the winter thread and looks like people were getting acceptance/rejection notifications in a week's range.

That's actually good news, that means there may still be hope after all. These last couple of days of waiting have been brutal, I just want to know already!

I know, all this stressful waiting is terrible. I kinda have a feeling that I am not accepted, I think my current semester is overlapping with the beginning of the program, which mean last prerequisite won't be finished on time. I was originally planing to start a nursing program this Fall and I am so mad that things fell through with UCLA. Now I am going to have to wait to apply again for January, grrr

Stani,

do u think they look into when each schools semester will end? Or did you inform them that your semester ends after the program starts? I'm curious because although my last prereq ends in April, I wrote in progress on my application.

I am in the same situation. I have 2 in-progress classes that end in May...

Hello all!

I received a call yesterday around 3 pm letting me know I was accepted into the program! Has anyone else been notified?

Congratulations, NMC1!! :)

fingerscrossed12,

I think you will be fine because you will be finished with with it before the start of the program. I don't think they look up or verify any of the info on our applications, but I am sure they look thoroughly everything we submit especially if they are only picking 40 people. I attached a copy of my current semester schedule and it shows that class will not be completed until first week of June. I honestly didn't realize that the program starts in May (23rd).

eenglish, I think you are fine too if your classes will be finished in May.

Do you guys know anything about the waiting list, I know that at UCLA they pulled 20 people from the list to fill up spots.

OH I'm so excited to meet you girl!

Can you tell me what's driving your decision to quit work completely? The intensity of the program? I've done quite a bit of searching and havent really found a definitive answer as to how much time is in the classroom vs online ect. Can you tell me anything about that?

I'm planning on hopefully working part time which is why I was asking what others were doing.

My soon to be hubby is also attending USF as a undergrad so we are throwing caution to the wind and just moving somewhere around campus.

You should absolutely go to the conference - I love that USF is hosting it and it'll be a great intro to what we can expect professionally in a couple years. I wish I could go! The USF site has some videos posted from last years conference that I'm going to take a look at later on.

Congrats again!

I'm quitting work because I've been working while in school full-time for the last 3 years and I am so OVER IT (stress to the max)!! Also, I've heard that most people who work part-time in the first semester drastically cut back their hours once the program progresses because devoting a lot of time to studying (not just time in class) is necessary. BUT! depending on your job, and your excellent study habits ;) I'm sure you can pull it off. I thought I heard that we will be in class 3-4 days a week the first semester. I know someone who is in the program now, so I'll ask her.

I can't wait to meet you! Everyone I've met in my pre-req classes has been so awesome and smart and compassionate and curious, it makes me feel so good about going into nursing. My heart goes out to you guys still waiting, keep the faith!
