University of Texas AE MSN Summer of 2014

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hi,

I am planning to apply to the 2014 AE MSN program, at UT Austin, in August. I noticed that this site has A LOT of helpful feedback. Does anyone have any suggestions for the best preparations when applying to these competitive programs? My GPA is a 3.6, I have a BS in Health Science, I have worked in health care administration for 14 years and I am ready for a change. I just want to feel confident about my application and would appreciate any advice.

Thank you

I turned in my application too! I applied for the Maternity area. I'm so nervous! :/ I'm graduating May with a Health Promotion degree.

We are on the same boat ag92! I graduate this December with my health degree. I applied to the Psych/Mental Health

Got contacted that initial reviews are being done, so hopefully interviews will be scheduled soon!

Did someone call you or sent you an email?

because when I go check "My status", it says, "In review"

Why isn't there more people on here?? very weird

first contact today regarding background check. just happy to hear something!!!!

I got emailed asking for a syllabus for one of my prerequisites on Monday and then this morning I got another email about the background check...the graduate coordinator said stay tuned as more instructions and news will be coming soon!

Hello All! New member, applied for the AE MSN program as well. Today I too received an email to give info for background check. My friend who applied last year said she was denied without a background check, and that this year she was asked for a background check. Do you all think that all applicants are being screened? Or just the ones getting an interview? I know that sounds a bit optimistic, but I wanted to see what other people thought.

Thanks

Hey Longhorn2009. If you don't mind me asking.. who contacted you in regards to interviews? Did they give any additional information on the timeline of interviews?

Thanks in advance

Sorry, I don't know when interviews will be, just that I'm hoping they'll be soon since the "initial reviews" have been done. I would think they're only taking the time to do background checks on those they want to interview, but I'm betting they interview most of the applicants...I'm sure it's going to be hard for them to decide who get the limited spots for the psych NP and geriatric CNS specialties. The numbers I've read were around 150 apply, around 60 get admitted, but for the two tracks I mentioned, there are only 4 or so spots for each...so yeah, it's going to be super competitive if you're hoping for either of those :-/

Got another email today. No big changes. ..just a confirmation about the info for background check. I appreciate the emails. Anyone know someone who applied but not asked for a background check?
