Hi!!!..I currently live in Texas-not friendly to NPs (prescriptive authority) but hopefully things will change soon. I am in the process of applying to USA BSN-MSN Psych NP program for summer/fall 2013 and I know that they do allow up to 12 credits for transfer. I have a few questions if anyone can help.

    2) Has anyone taken or enrolled in online grad Patho, Pharm, or N. Assessment at any of these schools who can recommend the best school to do these prerequisites?

Liberty University, Weber State, Uni of Neb, UMAss, Uni of Colorado, Indian state, Samuel Merritt.
    Thanks!!!......

Interested in the psych NP program. After reading some of these daunting posts I'm concerned to say the least. I have been accepted at Drexel and SLU. I crossed Drexel off the list due to very frequent campus visits. SLU has an excellent reputation but $$$. So, I decided to look into USA. I was thrilled to see they offer the MSN in psych. Like rajan2 I would like to take at least adv patho ahead of time. I can't find a school that allows this.

Now I'm really concerned about USA's learning format. Would like more info from current students.

    Thanks

Yeah I would really like to know about advanced Patho, Pharm, and Nur Assessment from anyone who has taken it online... ..msteelhorse, I have heard some bad reviews on a few of the programs at USA but the few reviews that I have seen on Psych NP has been favorable. The many options for the Psych NP start dates and the requirements for admittance does fit my liking. I tend to go with schools that works for me (cost, online, and requirements)....will PM you.

So, rajan2, I see that to go part-time you have to either start summer or spring...fall is FT. Can you not go PT by starting in the fall due to the course sequencing?

I am entering my 3rd semester in the Psych NP BSN-DNP program. I have to say to those of you interested: Do not let anyone talk you out of gathering your own experience of USA's online work. I have gained so much from this school and yes, my writing, critiquing abilities etc. have drastically improved. I have great instructors who have (on more occasions than one, been very flexible and considerate). There are a few things I don't care for but nothing at all nearly bad enough to want to or need to leave them. For those who asked, I took Adv. Assessment, Adv. Patho, & Adv. Pharm at the University of Cinncinati online was able to transfer them seamlessly. If you have any questions more, ask away.

Thanks you sooooooooo much for your reply....hopefully UofCinn classes have not started yet. Did you take any of these grad classes together and were you accepted as a non degree at UofCinn? I am interested in fall admission and USA says that they will accept 12 transfer credits. I would like to complete most of these credits prior to admission. lildrekie thanks!!!

Ditto...many schools have stopped allowing folks to take individual grad courses as non-degree seeking students. Crossing my fingers! Thanks so much.

Hi, the disorganization I was referring to goes far beyond Secure Proctor. The school was disorganized in bringing in SP without working out the kinds. This lead to people not being able to take exams and getting a "0", endless hours of students on the phone trying to get in contact with Tech Support at SP, etc.

USA's psych NP is disorganized because of the psych professor. She is not only remarkably scattered and disorganized, she can't write a plain sentence in English, she requires some out of date books (especially pharmacology), which there is really no excuse for, she does not actually "teach" but just posts readings. She is unbending, and tries to run the program by intimidation and contempt for the students. Hr knowledge base is also rather lacking. Unfortunately, she is the only one who teaches the core psych classes, so there is no avoiding her.

There is never feedback on exams, so there is no way of knowing where one did poorly. Some of the other classes at USA are reasonable, with helpful instructors. Others (pharmacology, pathophysiology) are an absolute time-consuming nightmare with unreasonable exams, lowsy study guides, etc.

The psych classes always start in the fall at USA (Psych I), so that may be different from other schools. Best bet: go to St Louis University or somewhere other than USA.
