University of South Alabama NP program

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hi,

I am researching grad schools and became very interested in the University of South Alabama's ENP (dual FNP/ACNP) online program. I am interested in knowing how competitive the program is regarding acceptance. I have a GPA now of 3.3, 2.5 years ER experience in a level one trauma center, 1 year of trauma icu experience, 3 years of management experience, ACLS, PALS, TNCC and will have (hopefully) my CCRN cert when I apply. What are your thoughts considering the above information and your knowledge first or second hand on this university? Thank you for any information you can give.

Starting post masters fnp in the fall....anyone else?

Yes I start in the fall for Adult Geron

Starting the PMHNP (BSN-MSN) program this fall. I'm a little nervous😁 Been out of school for 10 years and writing papers was my least favorite. I have to admit I'm a little apprehensive after reading this post.

Same here- been over 10 years and have not been at the bedside in about the same....so am feeling slightly scared!

Anyone starting PMHNP program fall 2016?

I am currently in my 5th semester out of 8 at USA in the ACNP track. It has been a great experience and in no way have we all been left to fend for ourselves. Now, saying that, it IS an online program, and is so for a reason, so yes, we do self teach a lot, but the professors are always available for questions and discussions. But, all of us in the program chose online, again, for a reason, not having to go to class is fantastic.

The courses have become much more regulated, and the clinical portion has become more straightforward and simple in order to decrease difficulties that previous semester students had. All in all, I am very thankful for USA's program and am looking forward to finishing up.

I'm contemplating the dual DNP FNP/ACNP degree because I want to work in my hospital's ER when I'm done and they require dual certification. Are you close to being done with your ACNP? Were you able to continue to work and do the program at the same time? I currently work three 12 hour shifts per week with 4 days off. I know I could schedule my time so I'm working Fri, Sat & Sun each week so I have Mon-Fri off to do clinicals. I can see the breakdown of clinical hours required per semester. Were you able to schedule the time as it fit with your schedule? Or did you have to do a certain number of hours per week?

Hello, just wondering if you have started the dual course program? If so, I would love some feed on your thoughts. Are you happy with the program? Pros and cons? how are the assignments? I will be doing 6-8 credits a semester and working full time. Have you been able to maintain your full time work status? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
