University of San Diego MEPN - overall program feedback

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hello all!

I am wrapping up my prereqs and plan to apply to nursing schools this fall.

University of San Diego is high on my list (I'm originally from SD), but I don't know much about the program outside of what I have read on their website.

I currently live in the bay area, and hope that I can come down to the info session in October, but that's just weeks before the application deadline!

Given that - do any current students or fellow applicants have thoughts or feedback on the strengths and weaknesses USD's MPEN program?

(for ex: I'm also looking at USF and their focus on clinical hours and hands-on skills labs is a big draw for me.)

Thanks in advance!

Hey dianeward, sorry i dont have any feedback regarding the program.. but i am also applying for this cohort as well. I'm nervous, but whats meant to be will be! I wish the best of luck to you!

also... we don't need the TEAS test for USD right? i found Nursing CAS to be kind of confusing lol. id rather it specify within Nursing CAS which school requires which things

oh and also.. is there a 2nd application for USD itself? I know for other schools, like the CSU's require you apply to the school itself and then the nursing dept separately, but on the USD site it seemed to just link you to the nursing app itself. sorry for all the questions! :x

Hi!

I'm with you that the Nursing CAS is pretty confusing! Can't say that I'm a fan of that system...

and yes, USD does require a supplemental application.

check out this link - it has 3 sections, a link to the main Nursing CAS system, a link to USD's supplemental application, and application instructions.

Apply - Master's Entry Program in Nursing - Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science - University of San Diego

The application instructions do a good job calling out the details of what items get uploaded to the two systems.

And the TEAS isn't required for USD's MSN program (I think the TEAS is only required for BSN programs), but they say that if you don't feel very good about your GPA, you can take the GRE if you want to (but it's not required).

Good luck with applications!

Diane

Hey yall,

I am also applying to this cohort as well. There is already a thread for USD MEPN 2015 (Univ. of San Diego) and I would like for you all to join us so we all give each other the best support. Good luck and let the waiting begin :-)
