Can anyone recommend a MSN program for people with a Bachelors of Arts already. I do not have a BSN and will be finishing LPN school in August. My goal is to get a MSN. I was hoping to bypass the ADN and BSN if possible. Can this be done? Help please!!

I don't think there is an MSN program (other than the entry-level ones) that will let you in without your RN license. I am getting my MSN from Cal State Dominguez Hills through their pathway program. I have an ADN and a BA in psych. They have a distance program that is Cal State tuition for CA residents and about $250/unit for the rest of the country. It might be in your best interest to look at an entry-level program or bridge to your RN and then move on. It is taking much longer to get to the MSN without a BSN, but it has moved along and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! Good luck.

Actually, there are a good number of programs that are online and specifically for the direct entry student (one with a BA/BS in a different field). You earn your RN during the course of the program and graduate with an MSN degree. After that, you can continue on with certifications in case you are interested in becoming an NP or otherwise.

A good place to start would be the Peterson's online search. Just plug in nursing, graduate masters, and see what pops up. Alternatively, you can run a google search with keywords like "msn" "online" "direct entry"...

If you need more help, I'd be happy to help out.

Thanks so much yellowflinch that site was helpful. However, UoP seems to be the only online school and I really don't want to mess with them. I keep hearing too many iffy things about that school. Right now I am not working and just focusing on my LPN program but I wanted to start the pre-reqs online to glide right into an online BSN or MSN program. I'm still searching.

Weird... I know I ran into other schools offering what you're looking for. When I get some spare time together (that's a rare thing these days) I'll do more searching around for you. They're out there... or perhaps they changed their formats making them harder (or just different) to find...

Best of luck to you.
