CSULB EL-MSN Fall 2009--any applicants/ current students?

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hi, everyone! I am getting ready to submit my application to CSULB's EL-MSN program--who else is applying?

Also are there any current students or graduates from this program out there? What do you think of the program--can you offer any advice?

Thanks!!

I called 562-985-7308.

oh. yeah, that's the number I called :( I'll ask again tomorrow. I emailed monalisa ward so hopefully she can get back to me on that.

I too had to call admissions to make sure that it entered the system. When I first called them a week ago, they said that my application was still being evaluated by admissions.

So did you two just tell them that you've received your acceptance letters from the nursing department?

I checked with Monalisa Ward to make sure that she submitted papers/enter system and then talked with Admissions officer, who then updated it. Otherwise it seemed it could take quite a while.

I called and said that I had just been admitted to the program and that the letter was instructing me to log on to the website to accept my offer of admission. I then explained that I had not been able to log in to the website which I'd why I wanted to verify if I'd been admitted.

The person I spoke to put me on hold and a few minutes later told me that she admitted me to the University and that I would be matriculated as early as this Tuesday (I called last week).

Then today I received the official admission letter from the university along with my financial aid package.

I have a question about the fafsa. Mnguy and I had to change the degree to 2nd Bachelor's for CSUN--I'm guessing that's ok for CSULB also since we'll be working toward the BSN the first year--has anybody asked? It just seems weird that I would get more financial aid at CSULB than CSUN since for the first part of the program they are pretty much the same. I'm wondering if this financial aid offer is based on my original SAR that listed me as pursuing a master's degree/ graduate degree.

I just thought I'd ask in case anyone was in a similar situation. I'll call financial aid tomorrow.

About having so many classes a semester--I remember reading (??on the application) that the classes would be in a modular format and would last from 3-8 weeks. So maybe the total number of units at the end might be 20, but it gave me the impression that they'd be split up kind of like summer sessions. Does anyone know for sure?

for the question.. what grade level would you be pursuing 09-10.. i put 5th yr/other undergrad. i thought i was supposed to change it to 1st yr grad/professional..but decided to leave it bc our first yr we would be pursuing our additional bsn and not our msn.

hmm maybe i should call to make sure..

but aren't we considered graduate students?

I think we applied to CSULB as a graduate student.

Well, I certainly hope so since I was counting on it.

OK, CSUN was also applied as grad, but I'm hoping that CSULB is considered grad because terminal degree of the program is MS.

I called the finaid office...the lady I spoke with said for our first yr on our fafsa we would put 5th yr/other undergrad and next yr we would be considered 1st yr grad/professional.

I too called financial aid that that lady did not seem to know for sure. But she said that admission status is as a graduate student. And I think we pay graduate fee. I'm confused.
