CSULB EL-MSN Fall 2009--any applicants/ current students?

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hi, everyone! I am getting ready to submit my application to CSULB's EL-MSN program--who else is applying?

Also are there any current students or graduates from this program out there? What do you think of the program--can you offer any advice?

Thanks!!

i am not sure. now that i think about it.. i never received an acceptance letter from the university. has anyone received an acceptance letter?

i remember back in january i called a number csulb provided to check the status of my application. it said that my application was sent to the nursing dept...

nope, just letters about it moving on to the nursing dept...but my letters said it was for second bachelor's degree. did yours say that?

i think one of my letters said that.. but i interpreted as elmsn being a 2nd bachelors program bc one of the requirements for the prog is to have a bachelors degree.

yea..i called them about that...plus the application i sent was for the grad program. i guess i'll just call tomorrow. thanks :)

correction from earlier..

Hi, Everyone! I got my financial aid package in the mail today. If you log on to my csulb, you can probably view your awards too and accept/decline. I must say this is a much better package than what I was offered at CSUN! I made the right choice!

I also got my acceptance letter to the university today, but I had to call to check my status. So if any of those admitted haven't found out about the admission to the university, call 562-985-7308.

You can also sign up for the electronic refund now (to have the refunds directly deposited into your bank account)--I remember it taking some time for it to get activated for my first degree, so it might be a good idea to get that started now.

I can't wait until June 5! I'm looking forward to meeting everyone :)

my mail comes around 3pm. there is nothing posted under fin aid for me.

one question: under accept/decline admission.. what does your screen say?

when i click on that option it says

Campus ID: PT_PIXEL_1.gif PT_PIXEL_1.gif PT_PIXEL_1.gif XXXXXX

PT_PIXEL_1.gif Admitted for: PT_PIXEL_1.gif Fall 2009 PT_PIXEL_1.gif Enrollment Deposit: PT_PIXEL_1.gif Not Required to Pay Deposit PT_PIXEL_1.gif Our records show that you have already accepted admission for the current admission term. Please contact the Office of Enrollment Services at (562) 985-5471 if you need assistance. PT_PIXEL_1.gif

nm, disregard my question!!! i read it wrong!!! sorry

I called the automated phone system and it said I was accepted but when I called again using the number levoila posted the person said I was provisionally admitted but I didn't have any missing documents. I called the nursing dept and they said that they wouldn't have sent the acceptance letters if my paper work wasn't complete. I'm still worried though...I haven't be able to log on to mycsulb at all...or received any mail :( oh goodness...

For those that live nearby...where's a good place to live (area/ apartment recommendations)??

I had to call graduate admissions/enrollment for them to manually accept me into the university...after two days (maybe it was three) I was able to sign onto mycsulb...then about a week after I received a formal acceptance letter from the university.

I checked mine, and there was no financial aid offered yet. Maybe it's because I still have a prerequisite in progress. When I called FA office, they said that offer won't be made until all final grades are in, which is weird.

BTW, I don't want to scare anybody, but did you check out course plan of the program? It's scary. Usually I'm very confident about academic side, but 8 classes (20 units) in Spring sememster?! 3 of them clinicals. And 15 units in summer!!! I compared it with other programs, and it seems CSULB is toughest by far, no contest (at least in terms of # of units). I like the program because it gives you RN, PH certificate, BSN, MSN, plus CNL (plus Education minor) or NP, but I guess there is a price for that.

I got offer from CSUDH, which gives MSN in 2 years, and it looks easy by comparison. Right now, I'd love to get some assurance from current El-MSN student.

Is it just the same number to the office of admissions? I can't seem to find the number specifically for graduate admissions. Did you just tell them that you were already accepted by the program?
