Applying to the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing?

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hello to all!

I have applied to join class 69 (starting August 2009) of the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing. I sent in the application in March, had my phone interview two weeks ago, and I have my fingers crossed waiting to hear if I have been accepted. I am staying optimistic. Anyone else also waiting for a reply from the school, or anyone who has already heard that they will be attending? Would love to hear from you!

I'm very interested in the Women's Health NP program at Frontier, but have only just graduated with my RN. I do have a BS and an MS in Biology, though. I have three questions:

1. I know I have to have one year of nursing experience in order to apply. Does that mean I can't apply until I have the year experience, OR can I apply in anticipation of completing that year by the time my classes would begin?

2. I have to re-take statistics, since the class I took for my BS is too old according to the Frontier website. Do I have to take it through them, or can I CLEP out? (Or take it elsewhere - though I'd prefer to CLEP.)

3. I've sent two emails asking for information, but I have yet to get any feedback or info from them. Not sure what this means, or if I am just impatient, but it's been about a month since my last request. What's up with that??

-Thanks, and good luck to you all!!!! Hopefully I'll be there in 2011 :lol2:

You cannot test out of stats, but you can take it somewhere else if the same class requirements are met (with approval).

Best wishes!

Patti

Nursingmeatball,

I am wondering if you already received answers to these questions, but here goes...

It is my understanding you can apply in anticipation of graduating by the time you are ready to begin Frontier's program.

You can't test out of stats, but you can take it at another institution...just call the school and they will talk you through that if you need to!

What email are you using to contact them? That is weird...maybe you should just call the number or email them from their home page....

Good luck! Hope you get all of the info you need to make a great decision!

Has anyone here taken statistics through Frontier? I'm wondering how often the class is offered and over how many weeks is the class taught...?

Thanks in advance!

My understanding is it's offered every semester, and lasts an entire semester (12 weeks).

Hello everyone, I came upon this thread and wanted to say that I just found out I was accepted into Class of 82 at Frontier for Nurse-Midwifery. I'm so excited!!

I will be taking their Stats course this Fall...I'm nervous, but hoping that it will ease the transition to their class format.

Our terms are 12 weeks in length with 1 week break in between

Class are offered 4 times per year. Every class is offered every term.

Summer term is 11 weeks (it is the only shorter term) so that we can have a longer break during Christmas. We are just now finishing up Summer term (in ends in Sept.).

Hope that helps.
