I am very excited, yesterday I accepted a job in the PICU in our city. It is in a big children's hospital, and sees pretty much everything! I feel like I am going to get tons of experience there, and I'm really excited. I am coming from 2 1/2 years of Peds ED experience at a hospital that does both adults and peds. I enjoy the ED but I really think ICU is more my forte. That's the good part.
The bad part about getting a new job is having to tell the old job I am leaving. I did that today and boy was it tough. I really hate to leave (although hopefully i will be able to stay PRN, I'm not quite ready to cut the cord completely). My boss, even though he knew I was planning on leaving, didn't make it easy for me to say so. I felt a little defeated when it was over, although I know I'm doing the right thing for me. I guess they have to be somewhat negative to you about your new job in hopes to get you to stay.
Blech, I'm glad that's over. I don't start my new job for 6 weeks, so I have plenty of time to spend with my old friends before I leave. I am very excited though about my new opportunities ahead! Prepare for lots of questions from me!

Congrats and welcome to the wild and wooly but never boring world of PICU. This forum has some excellent resource people and if they can't answer your questions, probably no one can. I look forward to lots of posts!
