Where are all the HACC Students?

I wrote two other posts and can't seem to get to much advice. I'm accepted into the part time RN program at the Lancaster campus. Seeing if anyone past/present has any advice on what I'm getting into. I know it will be tough just want a little heads up. Thanks in advance!!!!:confused:

LOL! I wondered the same thing...where are the HACC students? When I do find info regarding the school, it's usually horrid posts about how bad the program is. :confused: I am extremely apprehensive about starting clinicals in January (2011) at the Harrisburg campus. I have no doubt that Nursing School is hard work and have been mentally preparing myself for the changes I am about to endure. Jumping into a full-time program is going to be culture shock for me. I have been a SAHM for 5+ years. My mornings usually consists of 2 cups of coffee, throwing in a load of laundry, emptying the dishwasher, and maybe a shower before heading out for a playdate or a trip to the grocery store!

I try to take the information I receive from other nursing students with a grain of salt. Sadly, I know 7 students (yes, 7) that have not survived the program. Regardless of what their "story" is, I am not going to let it deter me from trying. I am excited to start this journey and have the opportunity to experience, for myself, what this program is all about.

We just had orientation and I left feeling like the instructors were there to help you learn and gain the valuable experience needed to be successful. I didn't get the impression they were out to get people. I did witness bad attitudes and can see why some people would not have the mental ability to make it. (If you know what I mean)

Good luck to you too. You can't always rely on what others say about the nursing program (or anything else for that matter). All I know is that I am determined to be a nurse and I will do whatever it takes to get there. I have nursing orientation on December 1 and I'm looking forward to buying books and uniforms. I'm excited. We can do it.

I am excited and well, very nervous to be starting at the Lancaster campus on Wed. (Jan 12). It came up much faster than I anticipated and I will miss my leisurely mornings of drinking coffee, perusing the internet and well, doing whatever the heck I wanted when i wanted (while the kids were in school that is). But alas the time has come to start clinical. What we have been working towards the past two to three years...I do wonder if I am making a mistake? It is going to be a long (2 years) hard road and I am sure there will be lots of tears (not all mine) along the way. Hopefully I can do it, I do feel as if I have a lot riding on this. The least of that being the financial obligation thus far incurred but also, the desire to show my kids that I *can* do it. And if I can do it, so can they! SO I have spent the past month or so reading every book I can get my hand on that has nothing at all to do with nursing or medicine or anything that is taxing at all. I read for pure pleasure knowing that I wont necessarily have that option after school starts. All though I do hope I will be able to do a little bit of reading for pleasure along the way. Hopefully my favorite author won't release book 8 of the Outlander series during the school year while I am engaged in my studies. That would be a difficult thing to have to put off until a break. lol.

So, the last weekend before it all begins. I have my books and bookbag, binder purchased, done some of the required reading prior to start of classes. Hopefully I can get it all done in time. Need to refresh my memory about some of the drug dosage equations so I do not look like an imbecile and well, hope for the best.

I do have a question for those of you who have gone before...What books should we bring to the first day of classes? Suffice it to say all of the purchased books DO NOT fit in my rolling backpack. lol I am thinking fundamentals of nursing and a binder?
