UPMC Mercy School of Nursing -Class of '15

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Hi AllNurses community! I have been searching for a thread for the UPMC Mercy Hospital Class of 2015, but alas; no such luck. Therefore, I created one!

I was accepted to start in August 2013 and was looking for others who were, or are looking to be accepted. I know it's early still, but I am ready to start school and secure a study group.

Now to my question: I know Mercy has a tuition contract. Does anyone know anything about it? Is it a good deal? I know they are sending information about it, but I am interested in hearing opinions.

Thanks!

can anyone give me some info...l sent in my confirmation fee...im just waiting on my packet, but im just so curious about what they tell me next...what info is in the packet?

Lvalenti....I believe the next packet is telling you to get your clearances and cpr certification. There's also an orientation day in June and a transition day in August.

I was wondering if anyone knew how many seats there are for the Fall 15 class? What is the average retention rate? Thanks!!

Also, is anyone planning on working during the full time program?

I plan to...im a server right now, but I am planning on bartending my way through school lol

Hi. Just got my acceptance letter day before yesterday. I am sending in my check and forms tomorrow. Can anyone tell me what day and time orientation is? I am currently working and will need the day off. I look forward to meeting everyone! I am so excited!

Congrats Spivey!!! Orientation is Monday, June 17th from 8am-3pm.

So I wanted to know what everyone's opinion is.....I am thinking about getting an ipad with an attachable keyboard for taking notes with while in class. I know that have really helpful apps that let you record lectures and possibly even download some of our books. I feel as though this may be a very efficient way to keep track of everything and really help with studying. and to not have to lug around gigantic books would be nice too. So what does everyone plan on doing? im pretty sure im not the only one thinking about this lol

Lvalenti, I just completed my sciences at ccac and that's EXACTLY what I did. It's so much easier than even carrying a laptop. I use audio note app to record the lectures and type notes (on my wireless keyboard) in the same place. I also downloaded my textbooks using the kindle app. However, unless they change the text from last year, the fundamentals text is not available online :-( but I still prefer my iPad to a computer.

That's exactly what I want to do. It seems like it makes so much sense to do it this way. I think that this is the way I am going to do it. I think they do have the fundamentals book that is downloadable. I just searched it isbn of the book on google and found it in e-book form.

I am really excited for everything. I have always been a planner and love to know what I am doing before I even do it, so this helps a lot. Thanks @naturalgirl

Hey guys! If I may interject here... I've been voted the president of student leadership for Mercy! So if you guys need ANYTHING at all, message me on here or you can email me at [email protected]

I look forward to meeting all of you soon. I'm not sure if I'll be at orientation. If you guys can think of anything you would like to be implemented at the school or some good ideas, I'm all ears! :-). Thanks!!
