UPMC McKeesport nursing assistant

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Published

I posted this in the CNA forum, but I posted it here as well since it's local.

I hope someone can answer this for me. I go to UPMC's website everyday to look for nursing assistant positions I can apply to. I've applied for five NA positions but so far I haven't gotten any calls back. One thing I have noticed is that everyday on UPMC's career website I see several new listings for PT/FT nursing assistant positions available at UPMC McKeesport. That hospital is way too far me to go to since I don't have a car; it would take forever to get there via public transportation. My question: Why are there so many NA positions open at McKeesport? Is the hospital having a hard time finding people to fill the positions or is just a really bad place to work? If you're an NA, how long did you have to wait to hear from someone for an interview?

I don't know if anyone particular UPMC facility has more openings than others. I think it's just that despite the fact that they are supposed too, not all facilities are prompt in putting openings on-line. If you've applied for jobs you are interested and it's been a week or so and you have not heard anything, I would call HR at the hospital you are most interested in and ask to talk to someone (generally the nursing recruiter also handles NA/PCT's). I probably filled out at least half a dozen applications over a month period and heard nothing until I called HR and spoke with a recuiter, she scheduled me for an interview immediately. :)

Are you looking for a CNA or PCT type of job? I think alot of UPMC hosptials utilize for of the PCT (they do blood draws, etc) vs a CNA.

Mckeesport still has that small hospital feel to it and maybe that is all they are looking for?

I dunno....I would call HR

Thanks everybody!

I didn't think I was allowed to call HR and ask about that. I'll definetly call HR and see if I can get an interview. I'm not interested in UPMC McKeesport because it's too far away, but I was curious as to why that particular hospital had so many NA positions. I'll keep post if anything comes up.:)

Actually in UPMC most PCT's don't do blood draws unless they are Advanced PCT's, with the exception of Children's, their PCT's do phlebotomy. :)
