Anyone here in NEPA? i'm currently a student completing my prerequisites but just trying to get a feel for my outlook upon graduation. Job market? Best hospital systems? Average entry pay? Any feedback appreciated. Any other nursing pre /nursing students?

Specializes in LDRP.

Not sure how north you are, but the Lehigh Valley area has a lot of hospitals and in my experience are pretty new grad friendly. Lots of nurses commute from the Poconos to come work at Lehigh Valley and St Lukes. Both start out about $25/hour for new nurses. LVH has a new grad residency I hear is good. St. Luke's will hire ADNs/diploma nurses, LVH might, but they much prefer BSNs.

I've heard Pocono Medical Center is alright, but small and they pay well. I also hear good things about Geisinger.

Stay away from Easton Hospital! They pay great, but it has a bad reputation and I've known nurses who worked there for a short time who hated it.

I am planning on relocating to NE Pa. I attended an open house at Pocono Medical, interview went well, recruiter stated she would be contacting me the following week, then nothing. I am an RN with 20 years experience. I followed up with an email to the recruiter a few weeks later, no response. It's been 2 months, safe to assume I didn't get the position. It would have been nice to at least have gotten a standard rejection letter
