Anybdy pls...any advice?:bowingpur

I am assuming i asked for lot of detail, so atleast can anybdy point me to alternate ways of monitoring job openings, i have been trying medhunters.com, and individual hospital websites. am i missing something?

Hi Ravneet!

I'm doing the same thing as you- going on to each hospital's website to apply for jobs. I don't really trust websites like monster.com and careerbuilder. I graduate in May as well and have applied for almost 20 positions at 8 different hospitals and I only have one interview scheduled!! I don't know what else to do! I'm really starting to get upset :(. Every day when I come home for class I run to my answering machine hoping someone from HR has called me but no such luck! It just really gets me angry because every week in the employment section of the Phila Inquirer there's always an article about how desperate hospitals are for nurses!!!

Hopefully our job searches will begin to look up soon. Keep me posted!

Hi guys,

Are you definite on staying in Philly?? I'm hoping for a job at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, PA. I really want to work on a trauma unit, and LVH apparently has an amazing new grad orientation. The critical care orientation is 6 mos long, they include a NCLEX review, etc. I applied online, was contacted a couple days later to schedule an interview, and from there I set up an interview with the coordinator of my dream unit! Now just waiting to here if I got the job. I think it's about an hour from Philly, though!

hi i am a new grad working at an icu at upenn. i think you need to look into the residency programs at the hospitals. that is the only way you can get in as a new grad

I did look at upenn's residency program, but it states that the minimum requirement is a BSN, while i am graduating from an ADN program. Would u pls. suggest any other hospitals that have such programs, but are willing to admit ADN graduates aswell?

thanks in advance!

Specializes in LTC, Sub-Acute, Med-Surg.

Try Jefferson, Temple Universtiy Hosp.,Tenet Health Systems( Hahneman )or Einstein Hospitals. As for Penn Health Systems, they went BSN wide where you have to have this degree before you step foot in the door. Good Luck!

Specializes in critical care; community health; psych.

Have you been filling out online applications? They usually don't get much attention without a phone call to the recruiter. That was my experience when I was a new grad.

Can't say much about Philly. I'm in Pittsburgh. UPMC hires new grads for critical care. Orientation is 12 weeks divided 6 weeks class, 6 weeks floor. If you feel you need a longer orientation, that can be negotiated. I know you don't want to relocate out here but just letting you know there's hope out there.

I have *heard*, but can't verify, that Underwood Memorial in Woodbury, NJ, allows new grads to work in CCU. Here's their website:

**Bump** still looking for hospitals that would hire new grads, can move anywhere within NJ, DE and PA. pls. guide!!
