Hello all, PA nurses! I just moved here in PA last Feb from the Philippines. I'm licensed back home and trying my best to be licensed here but the state I applied for was VT since I thought of working at VT before but due to personal reasons I ended up being here in PA. I'm just wondering if PA accepts interstate endorsements from other states? I took the NCLEX last March, unfortunately, I didn't make it and thought of retaking it by October or November. I hope anybody out there could enlighten me.

pa is not part of interstate compact. need to apply for pa state license

application for temporary permit only available to us educated nurses graduating from approved programs.

starting the process in pa would be cheaper overall for those desiring to work in pa.

under pa board forms / applications

see:

application for licensure by examination for internationally educated nurses

The first thing is are you a US citizen, who graduating from nursing program here in the US, or do you have the legal right to work here in the US? If not, retrogression is an issue.

Second is that you have to pass the NCLEX to be licensed in any state. If you have not passed the NCLEX, you do not have a license and have nothing to endorse with from VT to PA.

Your best source of info would be to contact the BON of PA if that is where you wish to work. And if you are not a citizen or did not graduate from here, Suzanne4 or Silverdragon make good resources for international issues.

Thanks for all replies guys! I'm not a US citizen yet but I have a 2-yr conditional greencard right now. I also graduated from a nursing school way back home in the Philippines. Thanks for the suggestions though.. I really appreciate it!

Part of your issue will be clearing the fact that you were educated abroad. The other is that you have a "conditional greencard". Does this permit you to LEGALLY work as a nurse in the USA?

Second, you have to pass NCLEX.

Again the BON of PA would be your best source of information.
