CNA Training in Pittsburgh

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Published

Hi,

I want to be a CNA, but I need to figure out the best way to go about it. CCAC offers a CNA training course, which is a little over $700. UPMC offers a free nursing assistant, but I think you're required to work a year. If you leave early, the free training turns into a loan you have to pay back. Has anyone had any experience with this? Am I right about the UPMC nursing assistant training? Are there any CNA's in Pittsburgh that can share their experience? Thanks.

A good place to start is here: http://www.upmc.com/careersatUPMC/Pages/default.aspx

To apply online. I don't know anything about the requirements as far as being an international student, but there is a form you can submit to talk to a recruiter. If you're eligible to work in the US, you should be fine.

I thought 9-10 is average in our local nursing homes?

Hi,

So, if I apply to the CNA positions online, they can offer me the training and the job? Or do I have to find training through another outlet?

Does the same go for PCTs?

It depends where you apply. At UPMC it tends to vary: some positions NA/PCT positions require you to already have experience or have completed one semester of nursing school. Some units are so desperate for nursing assistants- they don't stay long- they'll hire you without experience and train you at no costs. CCAC also offers a nurse's aide training course. I'm not sure of the exact costs, but I know it's over $500.

If there are any C.N.As in the pittsburgh and surrounding area interested in FT employment I have a position available. Please respond to me ASAP

Marla, I am not a CNA but worked as a Resident Care Aide for over a year & just completed my first year of Nursing school at Carlow. Would you happen to have any employment opportunities available to me? :o

Taylor

Hi Taylor, can you call me at 724 869 2000 please?

I'm also interested in a nursing aide or pta course. I applied at Forbes Hospital because they now offer a PCA program but they won't give me the time of day..not sure why since it's a pca trainee program and doesn't require any experience. I'm kinda bummed. =(

hey i was looking to get a job at upmc for a pct or a cna and get trained how did u get a job there and how did u get trained for those positions?

Go to UPMC's website and click on 'careers.' When you get to the careers page, register for an acccount and then you can upload a resume and apply for jobs. I was hired with no experience and I had six weeks of orientation.

Presbyterian. And your right, it wouldn't hurt to try to apply at St. Margaret.
