2012 CCP Nursing program

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has received their acceptance letters for the fall 2012 program yet and if so how many points did you have?

You have to have cpr done by the start of the program. Im pretty sure they give you until like the first day of school (or close to it) to show proof of cpr certification and health/liability insurance. They will not allow you to do clinicals without it.

1. I heard that yes everything is due July 13 however since there are additional items needed other than what was sent in your orientation packet , they want to make sure you have at least half of what's required i.e child abuse clearance , fingerprint registration number etc ... So I'm sure that's it's not the end of the world should you not have everything in by the tenth. Worst case scenario is its just more paperwork that you will have to turn in July 13

2. This will be my first semester at ccp so I'm not sure what 109 is however, with regards to the program and them overturning your admission , I would say that chance is slim to none. The people they selected , as of now is pretty set and if u have to take one other class in addition to nursing 101 , I hardly see that as grounds for dismissal . I'm not sure if you said you dropped the class or you didn't do so well in it, but if you dropped it I don't see a problem. I would just take it in the fall, it may be a heavier load but I'm sure that's something you were aware of. As far as doing poorly in a class , I'm not sure, that may be something worth bringing up to the counselors but I have a strong feeling you'll be fine . I don't see a reason why ccp would want to lose money over something that can easily be resolved.

Sorry I don't know how that happened

Bcolli11,

I found out it is required to have CPR and not just any CPR its the HCP CPR certification which is for health care providers. Like NNPwannabe said you probably have until the day we start but you can't do clinicals without it. Same goes with having health/liability insurance.

NikiPHL,

As for having to retake A&P 109, It shouldn't effect your getting into the program. You have to maintain a certain GPA to stay in the program not a certain grade in a particular class but that being said you have to get a C in any class for it to count towards a degree.. thats not just a requirement of Nursing. As long as you pass it in the fall you should be fine staying in the program. If you don't pass it in the fall then you would have a problem because certain classes have to be taken concurrently like 110 and Nursing 132 so if you don't pass 109 then you can't sign up for 110 and Nursing 132. Just get through it in the fall and you'll be fine. :)

In light of yet another new piece of information , does anyone know oh someone who does HCP CPR certification besides cuspidsqueen contact ? I would go with that but her price seems a lil high and her practice isn't based in Philly .

Thanks in advanced

I don't know what the quoted price was, but I'm looking into taking the Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider Training Program over a the Penn at Rittenhouse. It's $70 for non-UPHS employees. Again, I missed the original quoted price, but this could be another option for you and it's right in the city.

Here's a link to their page: Penn Medicine Clinical Simulation Center - ACLS Courses

just make sure you click on the "BLS HCP welcome letter" link too.

Good luck!

Does it get any cheaper than 70$ (CPR Training) ? Maybe I should look around more ? Thanks so much I'll keep that in mind !!!!

Random question

Are our names stitched on our uniforms ? I was in the west building the other day and saw a girl who had her name stitched on hers but the colors weren't nursing so I wasn't sure . That would be cool if they are !!!!! It's seems like it would be considering we have to order the uniforms and what not.

I dont think our names are stitched on. We get a name tag that you pin to your shirt.

$70 is the standard price given by the American Heart Association. Unless you work somewhere where they offer the class for free or at a discounted rate that is pretty much what you are going to pay. I checked out 4 different places and all the prices were the same. You have to remember this isn't the same certification that the lay person gets. You learn to use a defibrillator as well as how to do team based CPR which is what you would do in a hospital setting.
