Hi!! Sorry you were given the runaround. You will find that this is not uncommon with ccp. lol. I just finished my first year of CCP's nursing program and I transferred to ccp from another school so hopefully I can help. Its great that you only need to take the actual nursing classes. Once you start the program you will be so glad you dont have any other classes to take. Believe me! lol. Since you have to take all 4 nursing classes, I would think the process for you would be pretty much the same as everyone else. In order to get accepted to CCP's program you have to first apply to be a regular student. I believe when I first transferred to ccp they told me to just put culture,science and technology as my major. Once you get accepted to the nursing program they automatically change your major to nursing for you. There is also an additional application you must fill out afterwards for the nursing program. Are you planning on starting Fall 2014? They usually have information sessions from October-December where they give you the application packet, go over all the requirements, and answer any questions. If you are unable to attend an information session you can usually pick up an application packet in the office, or since you are far away they may be able to mail one to you. But, I doubt they have the nursing applications available at this time so you will probably have to wait until at least October to get things rolling. The usual nursing application deadline for the following fall is around January 15th. After that I think they still accept applications, but they give priority to students who sent their application in by January 15th. You will also have to take the AHT (Allied Health Test) which you have to take on campus. While it is better to have the AHT done by the application deadline, I've heard of people taking the AHT in February and even March and still getting accepted so I wouldnt worry too much if you arent able to take it by January. Since you are a transfer student you will just also have to fill out a transfer credit evaluation form which you can get off the ccp website. This is so that all your classes from you current school can be transferred to ccp. This form is not specific to the nursing program so once you apply as a regular student you can just fill out the form and send it in. I hope this helps!

My ACE instructor told us that we dont learn to start IVs. We talk about it, but she said we dont actually practice it, on each other or on the dummies. I hope shes wrong. lol.

I have Elaine Kemp as well. I have no idea who she is, but I hope shes nice lol. I also heard that we do not learn how to do IVs or draw blood during the program. I think they used to teach it, but they dont anymore? It stinks because I was looking forward to learning that lol.

How is everyone enjoying the semester so far? The teachers all seem nice. I just saw the clinical assignments. I will be at Albert Einstein. Im excitied and nervous at the same time. lol.

my schedule is as follows: Lecture: M 8-10:10 and T 8-9 with Lisa Johnson Lab: M 10:20-12:20 with Lisa Johnson Seminar: T 9:35-10:35 with Jean Byrd Clinical TR with Patricia Rexer Does anyone know how lecture works? There are a lot of different sections/teachers but only two different rooms. Are we being split into two groups and then the teachers take turns? lol.

I havent bought my books yet, but I need to soon because I want to get started on the readings as well. I know they are probably cheaper online, but I think Im going to have to buy everything at the bookstore so I can use my bookstore credit because I cant afford to buy all those books out of pocket. lol. Has anyone bought the books from the bookstore?

i dont remember them telling us about it at orientation. unfortunately, it has been my experience with ccp that they tend to leave things out, give you the runaround, or lose your paperwork. lol. you may just want to double check with the nursing department. maybe they've changed things since last year?? i really hope it works out for you.

yeah it looks like the first 5-6 weeks we have ACE--Alternate Clinical Experience, in which we have to go to campus to practice the assessment skills we will use when we do our hospital clinicals.

As far as the alternate clinical times, i got the email on 9-13 last year, so im guessing it comes out the second week of class. Im really hoping everything goes together as well. can you imagine if we cover different things in lecture, lab, and seminar? i think i have the syllabus for nursing 101 that someone sent me from last year. i'll have to look at it and see, but then again who knows if they will follow the same syllabus as they did last year. i'll let you guys know.

ok good. i really dont want to have the same stethoscope as everyone else. i feel like that would make it easy for them to "walk away" hahaha.

hmmm i've wondered that too. i think the lecture we go over the material and then lab we practice what we've learned, but seminar? seems like an extra lecture. lol. does anyone know what color our stethoscopes have to be? do they have to match our uniform or can they be any color? i kind of want a pink one. lol.

Omg I was just thinking the same thing. lol. I cant believe school is two weeks away already. Is anyone else as stressed as I am???

I got my financial aid award offer a few weeks ago so if you didnt get it yet, you should be getting it soon.
