I am almost done with LPN school but my calling is peds. I know I must get an RN education before I can be employed in that field. I am looking for a pediatric RN who would be interested in chatting to me about this field. We have rotated thru out the hospital, LTC, etc. Peds is the only field where I felt really "at home".

I am an RN . I have been doing peds for 17 years in the community. LPN's are hired by agencies like Bayada Nurses,Loving Care for pediatric home care cases. This is decent money and you only have 1 patient. You can become highly skilled and learn to care for kids that have gastrostomy tubes, are on ventilators, use oxygen. Must you work in the hospital? You can work as an LPN over the summer at a camp.You can do many things as an LPN in peds in Pennsylvania. If you want, you can email me.

You can easily work in the peds area in a hospital as an LPN, not sure why you think differently. Would definitely get experience before thinking of peds home care or you could run into trouble without the training to back you up, such as changing out a tracheostomy tube, or a G-tube, etc. Peds patients do code at home as well.

I am aware children code at home also...In the area where I live the hospitals do not hire LPNs for anything but med surg...which is ok at first to work on my skills, but not my "calling"
