wanted to but cannot find

Specialties Parish

This is my first time posting in this forum. I currrently am a home health RN. I for some reason feel a calling to parish nursing but I cannot find any jobs of such in the central Ohio area. I need a job that is paid something as I have four children in college. I work between 60 to 70 hours per week in my current job so volunteering is not an option.

Do any of you work in a paid position?

Hello everyone,

I am an RN (ADN) working as a case manager in hospice. I love my job and have felt called to it since the beginning. Lately, though, I have been really drawn to the idea of parish nursing. It sounds like most of you don't make a living as parish nurses, but have found a way to integrate your faith into your work.

My question is.. Do you ever get negative feedback from your employers when it comes to the spiritual needs of your patients? I'm very fortunate that in hospice there are usually spiritual aspects to the care we provide.

I also wondered if there were any certified parish nurses out there who worked in hospice.

I am new to this forum and to the concept of parish nursing...so any info will be very appreciated.
