Questions for Linfield Nursing Graduates

I just got accepted to the nursing program (from being waitlisted previously), and I am a bit nervous. For one, I don't really have any recent volunteer experience nor do I have a CNA license..I feel like almost everyone in my cohort has had experience/knows what to expect. However, I am looking for volunteer jobs at the moment before I start the year (If I can find one). But If I don't have any experience.. will I be ok? I want to know: Is there anything I should expect in the first few days of nursing school? How would you compare the pace of nursing school? I remember when some people use to say that taking Human A&P classes was really difficult/fast paced. Should I read ahead over the summer before class starts?I really don't want to fall behind, and I want to be well prepared... because I am more of a "B" student and I really want to score A's in nursing school. In addition, did you guys have an easy or difficult time making friends/did you like your class group? According to google maps it looks like Portland State and U of P are near, so did you guys have any interaction with those schools? Do many nursing students come from Linfield-Mcminnville? I never went to that school and went to another university and am transferring here. Were there different people of all ages? Did you read all your textbooks page by page or do professors have selected pages? How much did you study? per day? per week? Did you hold a job? Did anyone live on campus housing? If you did, did you just like cook your own food everyday/night, since there's no meal plan, etc. or did you eat out all the time?

Sorry for the amount of questions, but they have been running through my mind all day. I just need an idea of what to expect.

Congrats on getting in to your program! I unfortunately stumbled into your question while trying to seek answers of my own. I too do not have any recent experience in the medical field. I just finished my prereqs and have applied to Linfield myself! (hopefully for spring 16). That being said, I spoke to a buddy of mine who just finished an accelerated nursing program and he recommended I buy a medical terminology book and just study it. Learn as much as you can and treat it like any class you are taking. He didn't have any previous medical experience either and he did just fine. He probably had to study a little bit more, or re read certain chapters, but he did it. I have no doubt you'll be able to do it as well! As far as the other questions you have, I wont be of much help, but I hope that someone comes along and helps clear some of it up!
