Nursing in Bend

U.S.A. Oregon

anyone been to Bend?? How is it??

I live in Redmond, about 14 miles north of Bend. I have lived here most of my life. Housing is VERY spendy. It's very hard to get on at the local hospital, you almost have to know someone on the inside. From what I have heard from friends that have worked there or are currently working there, you usually get stuck working the graveyard shift. I don't know much as for the wages of RN's but they start their CNA's out around $11.80-12.50 an hour. Not enough considering the cost of housing.

I just went to Bend to visit my grandparents...lets say that even though I live in Oregon (Near Forest Grove), I hadn't been there since I was a teen (36 now..LOL!).

WOW is it different! Seems like a friendly place to be, and it has grown up considerably! Everything you need is there as far as stores of all kinds, lots of fun outdoor activities, a community feel without knowing everyone, and I loved my two day stay!!!!

I saw a hospital and I think a new or improved site one, and lots of assisted living or LTC/SNF's, so I am pretty sure nursing is a good career in Bend! Lots of geri's to take care of...tons of clinics (TONS!), and wow...you are just a short drive to some of the most gorgeous places...I think...on EARTH!

Lots of recreation there for everyone of any age! LOL, and if you like golf...you are sooooooooo set...golf courses everywhere! LOL!

Excellent food there too from NW faire to international! If you are a micro brew kinda person...can't beat it at all!!!! A few microbrew businesses started there, and Descutes Brewery is my favorite for their fun seasonal and traditional beers!!!!!!

I love Bend!
