Nursing in Bend

anyone been to Bend?? How is it??

Featured Replies

I really like Bend. I don't know about nursing there though (I'm still just a student). It's a bit resort-like, but really nice and growing exponentially.

I like bend too, I don't spend too much time there but it is a nice area...Lots of outdoorsy stuff. I don't know much about the nursing situation there, we had one nurse from there and she liked it when she was there, but other than that- I don't know anything? Just curious- What draws you to bend??

I have friends in Seattle who camp in Bend each and every chance they get and they are always raving about how beautiful it is...I can only afford to travel and nurse if I want to see the country..

I live in Prineville 33 miles from Bend, and have worked with many nurses there. They are wonderful!!! St. Charles Hospital is a wonderful Catholic hospital to have in this area.

hi! to all, i live n madras, i want to work in bend too but i dd not had a chance to take the PI board exam. And now i dont know what to do. I want to work as a nurse. i just got here last dec. 23, 2005. can i take nclex without my license in PI? I msg the board of nursing here in oregon they said they dont require the license in phil. but they have to see my TOR... how about CGFNS?how about TOEFEL? pls advice me...

can't say anything about the nursing situation, but we go to Sunriver every year which is about 15 minutes outside of Bend. Bend is basically a Ski/Snowboard town with lots of resorts around it for mt. bachelor. Nice place and very laid back.

What's PI and TOR, and TOEFEL? All these acronyms I've never heard of...

:bowingpur That is so funny I was thinking the same thing, thank you it gave me a great laugh

Bend is great. St. Charles is great, I worked there as a CNA. Cost of living is high though, median home price around $350,000. The winters are cold and can be long though, so if you don't like cold this is not the place for you. Summers are warm for the most part with spells of hot in the high 90s to low 100s.

I live in Redmond, about 14 miles north of Bend. I have lived here most of my life. Housing is VERY spendy. It's very hard to get on at the local hospital, you almost have to know someone on the inside. From what I have heard from friends that have worked there or are currently working there, you usually get stuck working the graveyard shift. I don't know much as for the wages of RN's but they start their CNA's out around $11.80-12.50 an hour. Not enough considering the cost of housing.
