Hi! I'm a second semester student who will be observing a TKA on Monday. I'm reading about it in my med-surg textbook, and it lists FES as one potential complication of joint surgery. I've looked in my medical dictionary and other places and am having a hard time figuring out what FES stands for. Any assistance would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Having been intrigued by this question- I didn't know what it was either... I decided to ask jeeves. At first he came up with Fluent English Speaker :chuckle Not quite what I was looking for. Then he came up with Fat Embolus Syndrome  Yep, cut into a long bone and you can get one of those. Gotta love Jeeves...

That Jeeves! He's so clever; I wish he were my butler.

Thank you so much! That makes much more sense than Fluent English Speaker *or* Functional Electrical Stimulation. :)

I guess iron sulfate isn't right!?
