Potential OR Nurse?

I really enjoy the OR. It really fascinates me and I have given a lot of though to working their as a new grad. My question is...Is the OR a good place for a new grad? How long does it take to become "comfortable" and competent working there? And lastly..did any of you OR nurses felt like you were gonna pass out during any of the procedures...I watched a GI surgery one day - was fine and the following week during an OB-GYN procedure...I felt so sick. Normal?

Many places will train new grads-they have programs in place to do so. You'll be on orientation for about 6 to 9 months usually but it can take a couple of years to feel truly at ease.

I've found most people in the OR have something that grosses them out. I know people that can't work in an eye room. I myself don't like GYN either, especially d&cs. I also have gotten queasy during some ENT procedures, but I can usually work through it.

Thanks for the reply! Made me feel better..that I was not alone. And actually D&C is the procedure that made me sick, so its funny you mentioned that one. :)
