Specialties Operating Room

Can anyone out there advise me on the job situation in B.C. I am at a point where if I dont get a Tim Hortons coffee soon I will be certified truly mad. Also the Hamburger Helper and Kraft Dinners are running low. Of course thats not the real reason I want to relocate but right now I really want to work in an O.R. in B.C.. Are there any jobs there?

Do you have previous experience? That would make a BIG difference in your job prospects.

Healthmatch bc keeps a list of available positions, or you can go to http://www.hospitalsoup.com and click on Canadian hospitals then type in the cities you are interested in.

Thank your Fergus51 for those useful websites. Am going through them and sending e-mails to the hospitals concerned. Thank you again.

No problem at all, I am actually thinking of London. Any suggestions for an NICU nurse?:)

Fergus,

I have 2 good friends who work in London and both at different hospitals.

Let me know what your interested in and I'll get them to fill you in. One works in NICU and one on an ORTHO floor.

Let me put it this way Fergus, to get a job in London you need the following qualification, A PULSE. See you over here whenever.

LOL!:roll I love a sarcastic sense of humour!

I would need a job in an NICU seeing as I am not a midwife (I have L&D experience and NICU experience in Canada and the US). I just don't know what I am looking for, other than I am interested in a bigger teaching facility and don't know any London hospitals at all. I also don't know if the salary makes it livable for a single person in London.... I would love any suggestions or recommendations as far as which hospitals are nice places to work:)

ok fergus, a lot of london hospitals have accomodation to go with the job. you get it cheap around £400, depending on your salery. however people who work in London get several additions to their salery called London Weighing. This adds several hundred pounds to your salery. If you choose to live in hospital accomodation you lose your london weighing as you have no travel expenses "Living In" and also no other bills other then your rent which is automatically deducted from your salery. I would have thought that someone with your salery should at least start on an E grade which will give you around £ 21,000 upwards but personally I would go for more.It dosent sound a lot but if you just want to spend some time in England you'll live cheap in accomodation , you get paid sickn ess 7 weeks holiday a year and if you apply for somewhere like THE ROYAL FREE HOSPITAL in HAMPSTEAD there is a university within the hospital where you can apply for courses ect. Most if not all London hospitals are really really desperate for staff and really Fergus its up to you to decide which part of London you want to live in what you want to do, and then just go for it. A lot will interview you over the internet, the process of whose name escapes me as I'm tired, and things move quickly. good luck. by the way you can work as a nurse while your waiting for your UKCC to come through.

Thanks for the reply carcha! Very interesting.
