Job interview in the OR

Specialties Operating Room

Published

Hi! I am a new grad and I have an interview in the OR TODAY! Does anybody have any advice? I have had interviews for other positions and didn't have too much trouble putting things into words. I have observed in the OR during clinical rotations and loved being there. It is such a different kind of nursing. I know I am going to be asked "Why do you want to work in the OR". I just can't explain why. I live in a small town and this is a small hospital. The staff in this OR was just amazing to students and it was the only department that seemed to want to teach. I don't know if these are good reasons for someone to want to hire me. I have other offeres but this is where I want to be. What about OR nursing draws you all to it? Thanks so much for you help!!!!

The bold part would be an excellent answer. Many people find the place they fit because of the attitude and kindness of the people in that area.

Good luck with the interview.

Thank you. The interview went well and she seemed thrilled that I thought so highly of her staff. She asked me if I wanted to spend a day shadowing a circulating nurse. I said yes and we scheduled a day. I think that is a good sign. I am keeping my fingers crossed!
