Hello ladies and gents, hoping all is well with everyone.

Wanting to know who has applied the MSN Nurse Practitioner programs at UAB. I've applied to start in the summer of 2014 for the Psychiatric/Mental Health NP program. The program is abit long, 7 semesters, peoole have said thats long, but Im game. Anyhow, anyone else appling to the MSN program at the school? Would love to chat it up with you.

Have you all tried to register a BlazerNET ID yet? We've got a good conversation going on about it over in the Pre-Nurse Practitioner forum here.

Hey everyone - I was just curious how many people actually got into the NP programs at Alabama.

I'm currently applying for the fall and i'm getting a bit nervous. I have great grades, GPA, and a decent GRE. I have 2 years experience. Great recommendation letters. However, my recommendation letters have to be sent to personal emails due to work blocking all sites not affiliated with our hospital and you can't access the e-mail at home - so if this was sent to them, they couldn't fill out the recommendation because of that. Do you know if they actually contacted your recommendation letter providers or no?

Also, what is everyone's thoughts on the program?

Ashleigh

i am an alum of the FNP program at UAB, graduating in 2011. The program was ranked #1 last year for NP programs. The course is demanding, but as long as you stay on top of the homework and let your instructors now right away if you are struggling, you will be fine. I completed by program in 6 semesters. I applied to and was accepted in to the DNP program which I start in May. Hopefully you heard something by now. Good luck!

Hi Ashleigh,

I too have applied to the NP program for fall 2014. Please let me know as soon as you hear from them... Anxiety is getting to me. Although I know they will not be meeting until mid April.

Thanks

Christina,

Thank you so much for the information. It is very helpful and makes me feel better about getting through it, if I get in.

If I remember correctly, I applied for spring 2010 and found out in late November that I got in....found out because my status changed on BlazerNet from "undergrad" to "grad" and it said FNP. Took awhile for my physical letter to get to me though. Don't get discouraged.
