TWU Houston BSN Program Entry

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello all!

I've decided to work toward a BSN and I'm very excited about it. I have a prior degree from the University of Houston. I double-majored in Psychology and German with a 3.128 overall GPA.. but graduated Magna Cum Laude with a 3.514 on my last 60 hours. I just started a minimester at Lonestar College to do my Lifespan, and I'm enrolled to take A&P1 and Chem in the Spring. I will take A&P2 and Micro in the Summer semester so that I can meet the September 1, 2014 deadline for Spring 2015 admission into TWU-Houston.

I know TWU has a great Nursing department, but I'm wondering if anyone has any information on the mean statistics of accepted students. I have scoured the TWU website as well as the internet and can't seem to find any information. If I make an 'A' in all my courses at Lonestar, I should be looking at a 3.5 to ~ 3.6 pre-req GPA. I haven't started looking at TEAS materials yet, so I don't know what my score would even be.

I'm very nervous about not getting in... I'm working as hard as I possibly can to make sure that I ace all my science pre-reqs though. And I did get an 'A' in my first/only attempt at Psych Stats at UofH... do they add points to your GPA for first attempt 'A' or is it just something they look at?

Anyways, I appreciate anyone's time who stops to read/respond. Thanks :)

Starting last February they took away preferences for first attempt A's. From what I talked about with my adviser they would only be looking at GPA and TEAS scores, but since you have a previous degree that counts as a preference.

Also the average stats for TWU admission are:

80 on TEAS

3.8 GPA

With that being said, you could have a low GPA and a high TEAS score and still be accepted into the program.

Best of Luck!
