Seattle University Transfer 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Hello!

Is anyone applying as a transfer next Fall?

Hey Rivercat! Just two questions. 1. When you did your resume, did you include non-healthcare related volunteer work? 2. How was the interview?

Xmuhhree,

In response to your questions:

1. I included past volunteer experience (healthcare related and non-healthcare related), however the majority of my resume was healthcare related (for example; if you are in the process of getting your CNA or if you have your CNA and did your clinicals somewhere put that on there! It all counts as experience). Remember, the resume portion is where you really get to brag about yourself, put any and all skills that you have on there...if you were a tutor or your speak another language or you're CPR certified etc.

2. The interview took about 15-20 minutes total. They asked me to describe my reasons for wanting to be a nurse, and for choosing to apply at Seattle University (don't be afraid to answer genuinely, if you have a personal story or reason for wanting to go into this profession tell them). I recommend you take a second to think about each question before answering, and if your the type to get nervous (like me!) tell them your nervous! Be honest, if nursing school is your goal tell them, let them know if you're ready to commit to nursing school.

I know how hard you guys have all been working to be able to apply to programs, and if nursing school is something you really want for yourself then no denial from a program should stop you, just keep applying and bettering yourself.

In the words of one of my colleges who has been a nurse for over 5 years:

"The only people I know who didn't get into nursing school are the ones who gave up"

I turned in my application last night! I guess this means the waiting game truly begins. I'm so nervous!

Hi Everyone!

I also applied for this upcoming year- good luck to everyone! Anyone else here applying as a post-bacc or going into nursing as a second career sort of thing? I'm 27 and I've been doing a lot of work in non profits and outdoor guiding, so nursing is sort of a 1.5 career for me if that makes sense, but I really do think it's one of the best jobs out there, for me at least.

Anyone at the info session in late October? I asked about the NCLEX pass rate (85% kinda low...) and also won a t shirt.

Can't wait to start hearing about interviews!

Hello!

Has anyone heard from Seattle U?

nope not yet.. :(

i'm assuming we're going to hear back in about 2-3 weeks

I have not heard anything yet. Interviews will be held from February 20-March 2 so I would assume we should hear the week before at the latest.

Do you know if they're sending invites through email or mail?

I am almost positive that they will be notifying us via email.

ah so nerve wrecking! good luck!!

Thank you! You as well!

I received an email a few days ago asking me to send in my AP scores from high school and asking me if I'm going to be taking a hands on art course because its a requirement for non Washington transfers. So they are definitely well into reviewing them! So nervous
