Santa Ana, Palomar College, Rio Hondo ADN Spring 2014

Has anyone applied for these schools for Spring 2014? I've been looking for recent threads, but haven't found any so I decided to start one :) It's a tough road to RN, so maybe we can all go through this together!

Also, anyone know how Rio Hondo point system works? There's nothing on their website that says how they add up points. Just wondering where I stand.

Ohoh, and I also applied to Pasadena City as well as Cypress College, but there are already threads for those. But we can talk about them here as well :)

I just looked up the requirements and it looks like you'll need it to apply. This is what I found:

Minimum Requirements to Apply:

  • A current, active California LVN license in good standing

  • High School (or equivalency) transcripts and unofficial college transcripts (if applicable)

  • Transcripts from an accredited LVN/LPN Program

  • Successful completion of the TEAS Requirement

  • Successful completion of Palomar College Nursing 110-LVN transition course
    (offered Fall semester only)

  • Work-In-Progress validation for required coursework not yet completed

I applied to Santa Ana and Palomar. I counted about 69 points for Santa Ana and 75 for Palomar. Hoping I get into either one, I'm from northern california too

Hi Wrestler133. Good to see someone applying for these schools as well. Your points seem pretty high, although I have nothing to compare it to since Santa Ana just went on the point system and I haven't seen anything regarding who got in with how many points for Palomar. I'm 5 points under you for each school. I don't know if it's competitive or not, but here's hoping.

Yeah I'm hoping it goes well lol I talked with some of the nursing admin staff from Palomar and said they would email the applicants no later than mid-October to let them know where they stand.

Hi!

I've applied to PCC, GCC, LBCC, Cypress and Santa Ana for Spring 2014. I was rejected by LBCC :(, and I really hope I'll get in either Santa Ana or Cypress since they are closer to home. Santa Ana makes their decision pretty quick, so we should hear from them in 3 weeks!

OMG SO SOONNN!! I'm just so anxious :3 Eek.

Oh, also, Santa Ana changed their point system as of Oct 1 so you might wanna check if yours did. mine went up and I'm so excited haha. One of the things they changed was the life experience points - max before was 12, now it's 5! and the nursing gen ed courses were like 5 points max, now it's like 10 :o 2 points each!

I didn't apply to LBCC, I forgot why, but I didn't D; I applied to Saddleback but didn't get in :/

I think I remember you saying from another thread that you had a 4.0 gpa in science pre-reqs - you'll DEFINITELY get in somewhere. That'll get you a lot of points. Do you have any volunteer/work experience? how'd you guys do on the Teas?

Oh wow, I didn't know we'd hear from Santa Ana so soon! How many points do you have for Santa Ana, if you don't mind me asking?

Hi guys,

I check my points obsessively (cause I have a problem haha) and I think Palomar changed their point criteria, regarding the Teas scores. Mine went down D: so just fyi!

Yeah I just saw that, at Santa Ana it brought me up to 71 and at Palomar it brought me down to 74, not a big change but still! so anxious to find out
