Questions about Emory's ABSN Fall 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi I recently applied for Emory's ABSN program.

My GPA is 3.88

I will have a bachelor in biology in the summer (2018)

My teas score is 90, ranked in the 98th percentile.

I have almost all my pre-reqs done except Microbiology (currently taking), Physiology and Human development (will take both spring 2018).

With that in hand, I have a few questions and if anybody could answer them for me, that'd be fantastic.

1. What is the total cost of the program?

2. Can I still be considered for admission even if I am missing 3 pre-reqs?

3. Does the School attended matter for getting a job as an RN?

4. Even without my bachelors, am I a good candidate?

5. Could I also apply to the traditional BSN?

Thank you in advance! Your responses will definitely help me settle my anxiety.

Great stats. I think you don't have to have all of your prereqs completed for any nursing school before you apply, as long as you get it done before entering. Thus, you will be considered for admission, IMO. I think it is important to attend a school that matches with your career goals. Emory does a great job of preparing students for graduate nursing education which requires working as an RN. Thus, they do a great job of preparing RN's to work as front-line nurses. This is one of the best nursing schools in the country.

I think you are fine without your bachelor's as well, as long as you complete it before enrolling. I do not know if you can apply to traditional BSN, but you probably can just not in the same cycle.

According to my calculations, the total cost for the ABSN program with fees included for four semesters is $115,848.00. I am including my calculation below. It is not exact but I tried to include everything for the cost.

Emory ABSN (August start) – 4 semester program:

  • Semester 1 (Fall) – 14 credits:
    • 1792 x 14 = 25088 + 500 (academic fees) = 25,588

    [*]Semester 2 (Spring) – 16 credits:

    • 1792 x 16 = 28672 + 500 (academic fees) = 29,172

    [*]Semester 3 (Summer) – 14 credits:

    • 1792 x 14 = 25088 + 500 (academic fees) = 25,588

    [*]Semester 4 (Fall) – 16 credits:

    • 1792 x 16 = 28672 + 500 (academic fees) = 29,172

    [*]Total 60 credits:

    • 25588 + 29172 + 25588 + 29172 + 6328 (health insurance) = $115,848.00

Have you heard anything from Emory yet? I applied as well and just waiting to hear back from them. Will Emory ask for recommendations at a later time? We need to start a discussion for Emory ABSN Fall 2018 folks!
