Nursing Students School Programs

Does anyone know if as a nursing student you can become an LPN? I'm currently enrolled at Adelphi University in their 4 year BSN nursing program. I'm in my junior year and I wanted to become an LPN for my last 2 years of school. Are you allowed to take the test to become an LPN if you are in nursing school? Or do you have to enroll in an LPN program? Thanks!!! :)

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

Depends on the state. In NJ and RI the answer is no.

In some states only if your program is structured that way (option to test for PN after sophomore year).

Others it's a case by case and approval of nursing school director.

Many schools this is not possible as the required disciplines (adult m/s, pharm, OB, pedi, psych, geriatrics) are spread out over the curriculum.
